The “Albemarle Class Ferry” is specifically designed for the unique conditions in the Albemarle Sound and the needs of the client – Harbor Town Inc – variable to say the least – from dead calm to short steep waves and 20 to 30 mile distances between ports. This Foil assisted catamaran offers 25% fuel efficiency as well as a very comfortable ride in most conditions all while at the USCG mandated top operational speed of 28 knots.
Use of the newest Hamilton HTX 30 in combination with Cummins QSM 11 602 hp ensures a fabulous power to weight ratio as well as a very long service life. The boats are built to ABS high speed craft and USCG sub chapter T. This all aluminum boat will have at least a 25 year service life and over its service life with the use of a foil will save thousands in fuel consumption as well as providing passengers a smooth ride.
